About Our Community

Like many hospitals, we define our community in terms of our service area. Our primary service area is the west end of the area in Southern California known as the Inland Empire, which includes the cities of Chino, Fontana, Montclair, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, and Upland. Over the past ten years, the Inland Empire, located in San Bernardino County, has experienced a greater growth rate than most states in the country. With this growth comes greater diversity, challenges to provide services, and new opportunities for health care.

Our community is comprised of over 780,000 people, with a median age of 32 years. We are ethnically diverse, with Hispanics representing 51% of our population, Caucasians 32%, African Americans 8%, Asian Americans 7% and other ethnic backgrounds 2%. Approximately 74% of our residents 25 years of age and older have graduated from high school and 16% of them have gone on to attain a Bachelor's or Master's Degree. The average household income is $72,400 and the median home value is $234,500. The number of employed residents exceeds the number of jobs in the community by approximately 20%, which means that a number of people are commuting outside of our area to work.

Community Partnerships
We are committed to improving the overall health of our community by establishing partnerships with other health care providers, public benefit agencies, and community leaders. As partners, our goal is to ensure that the community's limited resources are used to achieve the maximum benefit for its residents. Our Commitment
For nearly a century, our commitment to high quality health care has ensured a full range of inpatient, outpatient, and outreach services intended to benefit all members of the community. New and innovative programs for health care service delivery are essential to meet the growing needs of our residents. We recognize the importance of identifying specific needs and tailoring our programs to respond to those needs to ensure the best outcomes for our patients and our community. In addition to our ongoing community assessment process, we prepare an annual report summarizing our community benefit activities. Our vision is to uphold the best of the community hospital tradition, selective in our choice of services, deliberate in our investment of resources, unwavering in our commitment to the community, and uncompromising in our dedication to quality, to caring and to integrity.
