Planned Giving

Planned Giving and Estate Planning utilize various charitable estate planning options to benefit the donor and San Antonio Community Hospital. Examples of planned giving include gifts by will or living trust, appreciated securities and property, insurance policies, artwork, jewelry, and other items with appreciated value.

Living Legacy Society Members
You may already be a member of the Living Legacy Society if you:

  • Have left a legacy by will or trust - named the Foundation in your will, living trust, or as beneficiary of your retirement plan.

  • Decide to give a gift that provides a life income - you can transfer appreciated assets to the Foundation and retain a fixed or variable life income. You avoid capital gains tax and receive a current income tax deduction. Afterwards, the principal passes to the Foundation.

  • Leave your home to the Hospital - you can give your personal residence or farm to the Foundation while retaining the lifetime use; you will receive substantial tax benefits.

  • Transfer assets that pay an income to the Foundation for a period of years with the principal passing to your heirs with reduced estate tax costs.

  • Name the Foundation as owner and beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy - you can deduct the cash value.

Honoring our Members
Members of the Living Legacy Society are given special recognition in the San Antonio Community Hospital lobby. All Living Legacy Society members are honored every year at the President's Dinner. In addition to honoring existing members, new members are introduced at this event.

Leaving a Legacy of Health
One family's vision…may be a community's future

  • An unrestricted legacy enables the Board of Directors of the Foundation to use your gift in the area of greatest need at the time it is received.

  • A restricted legacy enables you to match the use of your gift with your specific area of medical interest. We are pleased to share the various types of programs with you.

  • The San Antonio Endowment is the financial cornerstone of the Living Legacy Society. Gifts directed to the Endowment will be invested by the Foundation in perpetuity, with the income and investment gains being used to meet the future needs of the patients we are committed to serve.
